looked like after being used by other artists. She has coated several layers of ink in the frames and let to dry, as well as printed without motifs from the screens, and without washing away previous layers of ink between each printing. The large frames contain traces of the silkscreen process, but without references to the artist or the art work it´s attempting to look like. After The Masters is a reconstruction of silkscreen frames in the way Salhus Røed thinks it must have looked like. Even though the silkscreen frames look abstract, they make up the concrete expression of the process involved in the production. The focus on process and materiality has been the starting point for several of Salhus Røed´s photographic projects, and in After The Masters she has transferred this way of working to screenprinting; a technique in which she has little experience to begin with. As a photography student she always noted how her photographs were copied. All the test strips were kept with notes on the back, with information about the size of the copy, lens type and aperture in the enlarger, seconds of exposure, and colour filtering. She did this with the idea that this information could prove useful later. Afterward, however, when one sees the notations and the test strips it can be difficult to track which photographs the notes refer to. And since the notations are not archived chronologically, it is also difficult to determine the process from one test strip to another, to determine which version would make the best and most accurate copy. In Test Strips, Røed has been looking at the notes with the question: If this information, this material, really has a function - how can it be used? The work consists of a series of photograms made in the darkroom, without the negatives, based om the notations. In this way the notes generate new copies of images Røed has made earlier. inkluderer verkene Technical Department og Exposure) dreier seg rundt noen arvete negativruller fra 60-70-tallet som i mange år har ligget eksponerte men ufremkalte. De skjulte fotografiene vitner om noe som fant sted og som det var verdt å ta bilde av, men som først begynner å eksistere når bildene blir fremkalt og historiene om dem blir fortalt. Lydverket Cataract (2019) er basert på lydbildene kunstneren hørte da hun besøkte negativrullene ved hjelp av teknikken Remote Listening, en adaptert versjon av Remote Viewing. Denne teknikken ble bla. benyttet i etterretning av CIA i samme periode som filmene er fra, for å få inntrykk av og informasjon om fjerne og usette steder og mål ved hjelp av ”ekstrasanselig” persepsjon eller det å ”sanse” med sinnet.
